SAE Conventions Lay Groundwork for Levere Memorial Temple
After World War I ended in November 1918, SAE’s annual Convention in December 1918 had to be postponed due to the Spanish flu epidemic. Consequently, the first post-war SAE convention, known as the Victory Convention, did not take place until June 1919 in Buffalo. At Levere’s suggestion, the convention voted to form an exploratory committee on the creation of a memorial to honor SAEs who had died in the war; the committee was instructed to report back during the December 1920 annual convention in St. Louis.
